Well worth mentioning – the new First Class service on East Coast rail. We travelled south with East Coast (www.eastcoast.co.uk)and enjoyed a complimentary cooked breakfast served at the seat, juice, croissants, toast, endless freshly brewed coffee-and we arrived on time too! The return journey provided a complimentary drinks service followed by a super lunch. I chose Caesers Salad which was freshly prepared and washed down with a good sized glass of decent white wine. Quite fabulous and a real treat! Not a bad start to a working day……………………..
We shall be reporting our comments shortly about the Spring/Summer collections 2012……………come and see us at Fenwicks in Canterbury Wednesday 21st September 6-9pm where we will be presenting the new Autumn/Winter collections. See you there!
Check out BHS this season – yes….BHS. On course to compete with leading high street fashion chains they are upping their game. We want the dark orange satin blouse at £ 38. And the forties style dress with faux faur tippet. Just gorgeous!
We had a great day at York Races which was blessed with mainly good weather which often brings out unsuitable attire for many of the ladies who should perhaps follow the ‘cover up’ rule. This applies to short dresses and skirts on those without the thighs to show off, also low tops and bare arms on show when there is way too much on show!
We were guests of Juddemonte Farms owned by Prince Khalid Abdulla who puts so much into British racing, it was great to see him win his sponsored race with his trainer Henry Cecil bagging both first and second, not a dry eye in the place, it is great to see Henry doing so well. The lunch was a delicious lobster confection – Pouilly Fume and all things good, everyone had made an effort and both men and women looked smart.
For the more mature ladies Paddy Campbell suits were a plenty, neat jackets and beautifully tailored to emphasize a waist and cover a hip if necessary - she is a master tailor. For the younger, plenty of killer heels and short dresses and hardly a pair of trousers in sight -
with shrugs which look so much better than a heavy jacket on a little dress in summer. The girls really had made an effort with fascinators and hats all round. My pick of the best went to Sara Cumani wife of Italian trainer who was wearing a pale blue fitted jacket over a pale blue chiffon skirt which looked fitted over the hips but had plenty of movement and came to just over the knee, ideal with pretty ballet shoes or pumps, it wont crease and with that shape you dont have to wear heels which can be a killer for a days racing! It is always better to have a raincoat or jacket with you – nothing looks worse that goose bumps!
The racing fraternity has gone to Deauville where the French still manage to show us a trick or too -
if any of you need help with your outfits for Race days either home or away – do get in touch Gail and I are delighted to help.
It is only August but the shops are full of new season collections. The savvy shoppers among you will be planning budgets, sorting through last years clothes and like me – looking forward to adding those flat ankle boots or brogues(TopShop,River Island,Kurt Geiger)oversized jackets(or car coats as they were once called! – ASOS, M&S,TopShop),drainpipe trousers (still everywhere). Skirts are longer and straight – below the knee to mid calf. Team with a chiffon top with pussy cat bow and high clompy shoes. Gothic black lace (fab dress at M&S soon). I could go on…………..let us help you put these looks together – soon!!

One week on and we’ve been really busy. Although August is generally a time for Sales and gosh there are some bargains to be had, Autumn Collections are now in. This week however I have had two clients who wanted ‘Mother of the Bride’ outifts. I took them to Harrogate, first stop Julie Fitzmaurice who have a reputation for being a ‘scary’ smart shop.To be honest it went well, a good selection of silk or organza coats (knee length ) over pretty chiffon or silk dresses… made to measure, in most of the colours under the sun, my clients went home really happy with EXACTLY what they wanted, a dress to fit a bigger bust, or a smaller waist or bigger hips, these are good news for a special occasion. I think going with clients helps as I tell people to just take their time. My customer today said she thought she was the most indecisive person ever but lets be honest, choosing a Wedding Outfit when you are the Mother of the Bride is stressful – I hope I made my ladies happy! Its been such a good week for weather, bare legs, dresses and in my case leg make up from Boots No 7, honestly its brilliant and people ask if I am in tights my legs look so smooth!
In October I am doing a Charity Walk in Nepal, so its full on fitness training, ladies, I FEEL GREAT! Gym 3 nights a week and a couple of tough walks, must cut down on the glass of Chardonnay however!
